The 2024 edition of the BARNES Global Property Handbook identifies the ten key structural trends shaping international luxury real estate, established on the basis of surveys carried out throughout 2023 among a sample representing more than 89,000 clients, employees and partners of BARNES.
- 01 — Luxury real estate — now an expression of a new type of mobility (p.8): property purchases are the embodiment of the asset diversification of entrepreneurs with several geographic bases.
- 02 — Digital nomads impose their world map (p.14): the digital nomad phenomenon may have previously been reserved for those working in tech, but nowadays entire families are moving around the world several times a year.
- 03 — UHNWI, moderate but steady growth (p.18): more numerous, wealthier and more mobile, the UHNWI continued to grow in 2023.
- 04 — A vast majority of entrepreneurs (p.26): self-made individuals account for 72.7% of UHNWI.
- 05 — One out of three billionaires flock to North America (p.32): even though North America posted a decline in the number of its billionaires, this has not prevented the region from retaining its global benchmark status, accounting for 32% of their total population.
- 06 — Second homes: the triumphant comeback of big cities (p.38): New York, London and Miami are the most popular cities for UHNWI when it comes to choosing a secondary residence.
- 07 — Dubai at the top of the BARNES City Index (p.50): a true embodiment of digital mobility, Dubai became the top destination for entrepreneurs worldwide in 2023.
- 08 — St. Barts once again top of the international oceanfront destinations (p.76): in Saint Barthelemy (French West Indies), colours and light intertwine with a Caribbean take on an authentically French art de vivre.
- 09 — The Swiss Alps soar sky-high (p.92): Zermatt, Verbier, Gstaad, Crans-Montana and St. Moritz are racking up their trump cards to attract wealthy families from around the globe.
- 10 — London restored to its peak place (p.116): London is once again considered as one of the soundest major capitals to invest in, which has restored it to its place at the top of the list of destinations to watch.
