In 2023, the global UHNWI population was more numerous, wealthier and more mobile than in 2022, totalling 395,070 worldwide with a combined wealth of $45,430 billion. One year earlier, there were 392,410 UHNWI with a combined wealth of $41,824 billion. A smaller-than-expected increase, given that 2022 was marked by extreme market volatility.
The ultra-high-net-worth population continues its moderate growth following the turbulences of 2022. Uncertainties remain, set against a backdrop of geopolitical complexity marked by the war in Ukraine, growing China-West tensions, and the escalation of the Middle East conflict in October 2023. By 2027, the UHNWI population is expected to reach around 530,000 individuals.
The 10 cities with the highest number of UHNWI
By 2027, almost 42% of UHNWI should be living in one of the top 50 UHNWI cities, compared to 38% in 2015. A steady growth illustrating an increasingly international geographic distribution of the wealthiest families, who are now more mobile and better connected than ever.
