Laurent-Perrier — A Matter of Tradition

André-Michel Pierlot first established himself as a wine merchant in Tours-sur-Marne in 1812, and began laying the foundations for a sparkling epic in the Champagne region. What was to become Laurent-Perrier was later passed on to his son and then, in the absence of an heir, to his son's cellar master, Eugène Laurent. When Eugène Laurent died in 1887, his wife, Mathilde-Emilie Perrier, took the helm.

BREAKING BRUT This was no small development, but rather a revolution that heralded the rise of "zero-dosage champagnes", meaning wines without the addition of tiny quantities of liqueur added during the disgorging phase. This bold, innovative approach became a trademark at the company. Bernard de Nonancourt created Grand Siècle in 1959, followed by the Cuvée Rosé in 1968 and the Ultra Brut in 1981. In 2019, Laurent-Perrier was the very first champagne house to offer a Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature.

CHAMPAGNE INNOVATOR Bernard de Nonancourt was determined to uphold the signature Laurent-Perrier style — freshness, elegance and purity — while opening the House to new winemaking techniques. This led to the construction of the very first stainless steel vat room in the 1970s. Laurent-Perrier uses plot-by-plot vinification methods, selecting the finest juices from a selection of 11 of the 17 Grands Crus made exclusively from two of Champagne's great grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Grand Siècle seeks perfection beyond a single vintage, and since 1959, has only been recreated 26 times in bottles. After all, good things come to those who wait.
