Maison Castarède — The Timeless Allure of Armagnac

Crafted in France by family-run estates where savoir-faire is passed down like a precious heirloom, protected by an AOC that ties it intimately to the Gascony terroir, Armagnac ticks every box of today's conscious luxury trends. A hallmark of French excellence, long featured on the world's most prestigious tables, Maison Castarède is at the forefront of this spirited renaissance. Awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label, it has carried forward a tradition of refinement since 1832, now championed with passion and purpose by Florence Castarède.

On the grounds of Château de Maniban, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, the grapes from the family vineyard are distilled on-site using a 1924 copper still. The resulting eaux-de-vie are then aged in oak barrels from the region and stored in cellars that date back to the 16th century — where ageing far exceeds the minimum standards required by the AOC. Vintage treasures abound, including bottles dating as far back as 1893 — a taste of history, offered more accessibly than many rarefied counterparts.

Yet this Gascon gem, steeped in tradition, is anything but static. Maison Castarède blends heritage with innovation, offering new expressions such as a VS Armagnac bottled at 42.5% or a crystalline Blanche d'Armagnac whose fresh, aromatic profile has captivated a new generation of mixologists. Furthering its mission to make Armagnac more approachable without compromising its integrity, the house has recently opened a second tasting room in Paris, on Boulevard Haussmann.
