Couples Therapist and speaker, Florentine d'Aulnois-Wang has been exploring the subtle art of human relationships for many years. Founder of the Intelligence Amoureuse© method, she is also the author and voice behind the podcast L'Espace du Couple.
Stanislas de Quercize: You founded L'Espace du Couple and developed an approach you call "Emotional Intelligence in Love." Could you tell us about it?
Florentine d'Aulnois-Wang: Emotional intelligence in love is the capacity to understand and regulate one's own emotions within the relationship, while staying connected to the other. It means moving away from reactive logic — I suffer, I attack or I flee — toward a logic of responsibility. I support couples in making this inner shift from expectation toward responsibility, from reaction toward regulation, from confusion toward clarity.
SDQ: What does a "successful" relationship look like to you today?
A successful relationship is not a relationship without conflict. It is a relationship that knows how to traverse. That knows how to repair. That learns to dance with discomfort without freezing or fleeing. It is a bond in which two people can be together while remaining whole — where each can grow without the other regressing. I deeply believe that the couple is the primary cell of society: when the bond is repaired, pacified, vibrant… it becomes contagious. That is the impact I am working toward. A contagion of living connection.
