Things are clear right from the start. For Tristan Auer, a car is not merely a means of transport, but the very expression of our tastes and lifestyle. After having spearheaded the regeneration of iconic venues such as the Hôtel de Crillon, the Carlton in Cannes and, more recently, the Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, this idea of a 'sensory cabin in motion' led him to create Car Tailoring. Drawing on his time working in the hotel industry, he has learnt to design holistic experiences which he condenses into just a few square feet. 'Interior design and Car Tailoring are intimately linked and feed off one another.' Two worlds, two realms of expression, but a single approach: to restore meaning to the art of travel — an inner impulse sparked by emotion.
MOBILITY, A WAY OF LIFE
In the automotive world where choices are often dictated by industrial rationalisation, Tristan Auer takes a different path. He pays 'extreme attention to every detail: the upholstery, the stitching, the handles, the acoustic architecture.' Celebrating the exceptional craftsmanship of upholsterers, leather workers and decorative metalwork artisans, he focuses on the interior to 'create a bespoke sensory experience of almost radical intensity.'
Each project, which takes between six months and a year to complete, is already attracting collectors, brands and hotel groups. 'We are currently developing projects for private jets, yachts and even trains,' says Tristan Auer. Proof, if any were needed, that movement remains an inexhaustible source of creativity.
