1975. From the very outset, the illustrious Parisian house, still independent and family-owned today, embodied the spirit that would come to define its singular place on Place Vendôme: the belief that the brilliance of fine jewellery should never be reserved for special occasions alone. It was a proposition of elegance as much as audacity, attuned to the changing contours of femininity in the 1970s: freer, more assured, more plural. From that impulse came collections designed to accompany women through every moment of life, infusing the everyday with a form of jewellery that was joyful, spirited and impeccably crafted, yet unafraid to step slightly aside from convention. In doing so, Maison Poiray became the first address on Place Vendôme to look beyond precious stones alone.

Craftsmanship at its finest

It is from this heritage that the Cœur Entrelacé, unveiled in 1993, draws both its meaning and its emblematic status. Reinterpreting a motif rooted in Antiquity through the intertwining of ivy leaves, its clear, graphic lines offer a reminder that the highest level of craftsmanship often reveals itself through apparent simplicity. Each piece is conceived with perfect symmetry and polished with meticulous care, down to the softly bevelled edges that give the motif its relief. The mirror finish, too, calls for remarkable precision, preserving the purity of its proportions while allowing light to move freely across rose, white and yellow gold, the three hues that shaped the earliest pieces.

An enduring modernity

For that is the wonder of the Cœur Entrelacé: across the decades, it has been adorned with fine or ornamental stones, sometimes set with diamonds or dressed in coloured enamel to celebrate its 30th anniversary. A constantly reinvented modernity that extends into necklaces, earrings and bracelets — first for her, then for him.

"Therein lies the secret of icons: to never stop being a new classic."
